The doctoral thesis deals with the theoretical description and numerical models of interfaces, layered structures and nanocrystals polar materials.
Using ab initio methods and computers to model nanostructure and their properties the physicist Roman Leitsmann often treated new paths. Subsequently all results out of this theoretical thesis could be verified in experiments.
The applicability of semiconductor nanostructures gets special important in the afterwards, because their optical absorption edge lays in the infrared radiation .
Supported by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research, the „Nanowissenschaftspreis“is awarded every year by the „Arbeitsgemeinschaft der Nanotechnologie-Kompetenzzentren in Deutschland“
